You’re invited to another wedding. You are tired of giving money or the same old crystal wine glasses. Or perhaps you are a betrothed couple who feels that you don’t need the money or gifts, but you’d love to have people contribute to making the world a better place to live. Now, there are many ways you can combine the two and give a wedding gift that will continue to give back long after the I Do’s have been said. It is now very popular for couples to request charitable donations to an organization or non-profit group instead of giving a traditional wedding gift. But how and where do you begin?
Most couples, today, have an online wedding website which has all of the information to go to their wedding. Send, along with your wedding invitation, the address of your site so the invited guest can get further information. Then on your website, have one or several organizations that you have chosen that you would like them to donate to in lieu of a gift. Provide a link to each charity, making sure that the organization is aware of what you are doing if someone should call them. If you’d like to give a wedding gift of a donation to a couple who has not specified to do this, then just make sure that you are aware of what charities the soon married couple have an affection for. Then it will be very meaningful.
It would be very wise to choose a “neutral” charity and not one that flaunts your beliefs which could run contrary to many of your guests. The idea is to raise money for the charity, not proselytize. If your guests feel that it is a very worthwhile cause, they are more apt to give a larger gift which is exactly what you want. And if you are giving a gift of a donation to a charity, again, use the same rule. No one wants a gift to be given in their name to an organization, which they do not believe in.
Another avenue is to register with an organization that will, if you register with their affiliated retail or travel partners, will donate a portion of money to your favorite charity. IDoFoundation.org will donate up to 8% of the value of your wedding gifts to the charity of your choice. This also is tax deductible.
Two other such organizations are JustGive.org who will donate the gift in your name to more than a million charities. And Nature.org is an organization which helps preserve animal and nature in the United States as well as all over the world. Check out these wedding favors.
If you feel that changing the world starts with you, then this may be an option for either gift giving or a part of your wedding gift registry. Everyone loves the idea of being part of the solution. If you can forego getting wedding gifts, this may be the perfect situation for you. Be sure to pick up some wedding favors. wedding favors are a perfect addition to any wedding.
