A good friend was getting married and did not ask me to be his best man; the speech that was given by the guy who he did ask was awful, he didn’t even make it about the happy couple. Think about the groom, how long you’ve known each other, anecdotal stories about him and why his bride is the perfect girl for him. You can just get a card and jot down some of the most essential points when it comes to your speech.

This is not a great best man speech and the bride will be insulted. When it is your turn to speak, thank everyone for coming before you offer congratulations to the happy couple. If you’re a relative, brother, uncle or brother-in-law to the bridegroom, try to speak about the type of character the bridegroom will bring into the bride’s family and talk about them.
Most important thing to remember is how much loving they have for each other.

As multiple people will most likely speak, the best man must insure his speech isn’t too long. In most cases, the bride’s parents, the bridesmaid, and the groom will want to speak, as will any additional sets of step-parents, so keep your speech short and snappy to leave time for everyone else. Using these ideas will ensure that your ‘best man speech” is unforgettable; so make sure you put the time into it that is needed and if you are going to speak from the top of your head, use index cards.
