During my research into the opportunities for folk who opt to Work From Home, I decided to add myself to the increasing number of adults who are paid for completing surveys via the internet. I was required to sign up with many survey companies in order to confirm I had a wide range of surveys to do.

Their initial facts would lead you to think that if you are prepared to do lots of Online Jobs, completing surveys, then you can find yourself earning good money and with the opportunity of winning prizes too. From my experience I would advise that this Internet Business is definitely not all it is cracked up to be. If you were informed that you could be employed for 30p an hour, would you accept the job? Probably not! Yet with a lot of these survey firms, that is what you end up with. There are some which tell you they will give £2 to complete a 20 minute survey, but I never appeared to match the profile they were after. I usually did match the 10p for 20 minute survey profile.

Added to this, your details are purportedly private, and you are not supposed to be phoned by anybody after any surveys you do, yet on two different occasions I was called, once by a holiday company wanting me to buy into their deal (equivalent to timeshare) and again by a business wanting to clear my credit card debts. Not bad outlay for these businesses, a very good way of marketing themselves to people who fit their market, for the sake of 10p!

Other firms are not survey businesses at all, but want you to search through their cheap airline tickets or clothes. Some want you to use their internet casino and offer you an incentive of an amount of money to spend on your first visit. Be careful, you could lose all that dosh you made on the other survey panel web sites very speedily.

A lot of businesses do not pay you at all, merely points for you to “spend” on things they have available on their web site – think Green Shield Stamps here – how many points do you actually have to accumulate to purchase a pair of socks?

Do not get me wrong, there are a number of sites that do actually pay money worth having – one appeared to pay 50p for undertaking a very short survey, so that would equate to £6 per hour, but as they do not actually pass many surveys your way, the hour could be spread over a lengthy time period.

So, all in all, if you are choosing to Work From Home, and want Online Jobs which will pay good funds and where you do not feel that you are being taken for a fool, look at a different Internet Business to survey panels. If, however, you just want to advise people of your opinion on which mobile phone, moisturiser, or other items you buy, where you like to holiday, what your political views are, and are not financially driven, then this is a good pastime. Keep a note of all the surveys you have undertaken, and the dates, as you will at times be asked if you have done surveys in any of the following areas in the past few weeks, and have fun, but do not expect it to make you rich.
