The coastal municipality of Benidorm, which is at the province of Alicante, Valencian community in Spain, was once a small village until the 60s. Presently, it is a sprawling town that is filled with beaches, skyscrapers, and hotels, which were constructed in response to its tourist-oriented economy. Due to its impressive skyline formed by tall skyscrapers, it is often called “Beniyork” or the “Manhattan of Spain.” In fact, according to the Urban Age project, Benidorm has the biggest number of high-rise buildings per capita worldwide!
As you approach Bendirom, you would see a very striking building, a gracefully rising spike that reaches up to the clouds. This is the Gran Hotel Bali, a 4-star hotel that is famous for its superb facilities and excellent service. It is located in La Cala de Benidorm, which is near the Mediterranean seaside, just around 300 meters from the shore.
At 210 meters if the mast is taken into account, it is the tallest hotel in Europe. In addition, at that height, it is one of the tallest skyscrapers in the continent. Indeed it was the tallest building in Spain, surpassing the Torre Picasso in 2001. The Gran Hotel Bali’s was exceeded by the Torre Espacio and three other towers subsequently.
The Gran Hotel Bali is not one building but a set of four buildings which form into a massive complex with an area of around 41,170 square meters. The hotel, designed by world-famous architect Antonio Escario and owned by the company Grupo Bali, has 776 guest rooms and suites which can accommodate up to 2,000 patrons. All rooms, which are adorned in elegant neutral tones, are air-conditioned and feature private balconies. Each room has a satellite TV, a safe, a mini bar, and free Wi-Fi access.
The hotel has lots of facilities that make each guest’s visit worthwhile. For example, it has 18 elevators that carry guests, luggage, and cargo to the hotel’s 52 floors. Outside, there are swimming pools and well-maintained gardens where patrons can relax and swim. The hotel also has fine dining restaurants, a gym, children’s playgrounds, saunas, salons, Turkish steam bath, games room, solarium, and many other facilities.
